Our Programs
Marching Band
In the Fall, all students participate in marching band. The marching band is an active, strong team that performs at all home football games as well as competitions on the weekends through Thanksgiving. The marching band is highly regarded as one of the best in California and has won the WBA State Championship 3 times since 2011. Students in the marching work hard, but have strong friendships and create life-long memories throughout the season. Students learn music skills as well as responsibility, character and teamwork.
Percussion
The percussion part of the overall program consists of marching drums/battery as well as the pit/mallets in the Fall. The drumline is part of the marching band and participates in all marching band activities in the Fall. In addition, the drumline performs in several rallies at GBHS. In the Spring, the pit and battery have WGI level Winter drumline which competes at a very high level in the NCPA and WGI Winter drumline circuit.
Colorguard
The colorguard program at Granite Bay High School is made up of several visual elements and also participates in all Fall marching band activities. Performers handle flags, rifles and sabres with stunning choreography and really display the theme and colors of the Fall marching band field show. In the Spring performers participate in Winterguard and have competitions specifically for colorguard. The winterguard competes in the CCGC and WGI colorguard circuits.
Jazz Band
The jazz program at Granite Bay consists of the finest audition only students in the band. The jazz band is a thriving improvisational focused ensemble made up of students who have an interest and passion for the jazz idiom. There are performers from all ages in the ensemble and have a common interest in performing all styles of music. The jazz band has several performances every year including the Folsom, Woodcreek and Reno Jazz festivals. There are also several small combos that have branched out and formed in addition to the Big Band.
